Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Upton County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to the site may be retained long enough to review and answer it. We keep the message within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the site's systems may automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Internet Protocol address assigned to the device
- Visited pages and the time spent on them
- The referring site, when that information is available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show broad patterns such as which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers may combine that activity into reports. A browser can be set to reject cookies, although disabling them may change how parts of the site work.
What We Do With This Data
Collected information may be used for the following operational purposes:
- Diagnosing faults and correcting technical problems
- Operating the site and maintaining reasonable performance
- Routing a submitted search to the provider selected by the user
- Measuring which material is useful and where it can be improved
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Upton County Criminal History does not operate, sell, or compile a database of personal criminal records. Its reference material identifies official channels such as the Upton County Sheriff's Office, the combined District/County Clerk, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or into a file about another person. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies provide the search boxes shown on some pages. Once information is entered, the selected partner's privacy policy governs how it is processed. That company, not this site, determines retention and sharing practices. Review the provider's terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Upton County offices, Texas agencies, court portals, legal-aid resources, or commercial search services. Following one leaves this site, and the destination's privacy rules then apply. Read those rules before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads. This site does not control that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold by this site. Limited information may be available to:
- Advertising networks that deliver ads
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that process queries submitted to their tools
- A court, law-enforcement agency, or government body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information collected by the site. No internet system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If data from a minor is identified, a deletion request may be submitted for review and prompt action.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights over personal data held by this private site. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs access to records held by Texas governmental bodies; Government Code Chapter 411 separately limits and authorizes dissemination of criminal-history record information maintained by DPS. Those statutes do not make this site an Upton County office or the state criminal-history custodian. A visitor may:
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information held by this site
- Ask for a copy of personal information maintained here
- Seek deletion of personal information where applicable
- Opt out of certain processing where the law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised as site practices change. Any replacement version will be posted here and marked with its effective date. The version displayed on this page governs current use.
